FUNCTION

Performs administrative and clerical functions including weighing trucks in and out, directing traffic to correct dumping sites, and preparing reports.

DESCRIPTION

  1. Responsible for the accurate weighing of all incoming and outgoing scale traffic including all pertinent information on each scale ticket.
  2. Identifies each hauler and the correct truck number in order to bill properly. Performs quality control checks on all tickets and manually edits changes necessary for Accounts Receivable.
  3. Identifies waste types in each vehicle, i.e., residential, demolition debris, commercial, spot market, etc.
  4. Accepts cash and check payment for weigh fees and forwards these payments to the MMWAC office for deposit on a daily basis.
  5. On a daily basis reconciles cash draw and upload daily transactions to the Waste Works software.
  6. Prepares manual daily reports:
    1. Ash Transfer Report
    2. Recyclables Report
    3. Residential Can Report
    4. Transferred Waste Report
  7. Responsible to obtain from the system the following reports:
    1. Daily Facility Report
    2. Ticket Log and Reconciliation
    3. Monthly Material Report
  8. Manages traffic flow with trucks and directs them as to where to dump.
  9. Communicates with Transfer Station Operator regarding the scheduling of diverting trash to maintain pit levels and also directing other transfer needs.
  10. Coordinating Recycling Materials. This includes selecting the vendor with the best market price for our recyclables, scheduling transportation, and communication to management as to the market conditions.
  11. Researches the origins of the unacceptable material as communicated by the Control Room Operator or Plant Manager. This includes, if possible, notifying the trash hauler company and/or generator to educate on acceptable material so as to eliminate future problems.
  12. Interacts with the public to answer various questions such as permits, where to dump, hours of operation, acceptable waste, costs, policies, and recycling questions.
  13. Provides on-the-job training for personnel in his/her position.
  14. Ensures that the waste pit management system is implemented and maintained.
  15. Provides general housekeeping of the Scale House.
  16. Performs janitorial tasks in office, restrooms, locker room, control room, and facility areas as needed.
  17. Performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Speak, read, write, and understand English.
  2. Possess a Class ā€œCā€ vehicle license.
  3. Ability to take, follow, and give oral and written instruction.
  4. Ability to operate office machines, including personal computer, photocopier, facsimile machine, calculator, and spreadsheet experience.
  5. A general knowledge of first aid methods and procedures.
  6. Possess required knowledge of Corporation policies and procedures.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with public and Facility personnel.
  8. High School Diploma or equivalent
  9. Possess good math skills.
  10. Prior experience as a cashier, weighmaster, or equivalent.
  11. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills commensurate with experience.
